Simpson
made herself not only into a household name but one of the top players in the country. Simpson came into a program that had won 6 games
the previous year, 13 wins her first year leading the team with 14ppg, 14rebs,
3ast, 2stls, second year 2011-12 15ppg 9rebs 4ast 3stls & a 26-5 including winning there district,
regional and a final 4 state appearance with a heartbreaking loss
to Jacksonville Ribault 43-42.
Simpson
received the Player of The Year award for class 4A after her sophomore
year. During that time, Simpson was getting looks from the likes of
Tennessee, Louisville, UNC, Stanford, USF and lots of other high profile
schools from all over the country.
In
the summer of 2012, at a camp in South Carolina she tore her ACL & meniscus, had to sit
out the majority of the season returned in January was able to play two games. Simpson worked hard to get back some teams
went cold on her but she never lost sight of her goal, continuing to rehab,
handle her school work she has been a 3.8 gpa student for three years in honors
classes and is in the National Honor Society.
Colleges
got back on her, after they saw her play in the spring of 2013 with her AAU
team FGB, but Simpson already had a short list of schools on her radar. She went on a unofficial visit to West
Virginia, and it was a wrap.
"I
don't believe it will get any better than this, and they showed me they really
wanted me and that's what mattered to me and they have my major in engineering
which was also important to me." Simpson said.
