After getting off to a sluggish start, the Orlando Jones High Tigers led by Juniors, Calvin Liptrot and Jarvis Williams, handily defeated ninth ranked Port Atlantic Sharks 72-50 in the opening round of the 4A playoffs.

The game plan for Port Atlantic was to slow the game down and not let Jones get off to a fast start. In the first half, the Sharks were able to do just that.

Atlantic frustrates Jones early on causing the Tigers to commit seven first quarter turnovers and trailed by 26-19 at the half.

Jones finally got on track in the third quarter as they picked up their defensive intensity and was able to get their Junior center, Jarvis Williams going. Williams, who was held to only one point in the first half, keyed a third quarter run outscoring the entire Atlantic team 11-10. For the quarter Jones outscored the Atlantic 27-10.

The Tigers were led by All Florida Prospects Junior Guard, Calvin Liptrot who got the Tigers going early scoring nine points in the first half and finished with 17 for the game.

The Tigers will play next Tuesday at home against Jacksonville Jackson who defeated Ridgeview. The game will feature a showdown between the Tigers big three Darius Walker, Calvin Liptrot and Jarvis Williams versus Jacksonville Jackson’s talented trio of Calvin Bucholz, Cortez Riley and Clemson signee Raymond Sykes
