Three players for Each One Teach One achieve Five Star player status.

After a summer that included teams from the state of Florida playing for the National Championship and winning numerous tournaments throughout the summer, the 2014 Boys Basketball Class may be the best class the state has had in several years.  The class features several players who are ranked nationally and includes Four players who have garnered our coveted five star player rankings.

Staying Firm At the Top

For the last four years the spotlight of Florida’s next best player has been firmly on Lake Highland Prep Guard Joel Berry.  Berry has proven time and time again why he is considered the best player in the state.  The North Carolina commit comes in as our first five star player.

While he hasn’t been in the spotlight as long as Berry, Montverde Academy’s D’Angelo Russell may have been one of the most watched players of the summer.  The smooth lefty lit up the circuit all summer long showing why the Ohio State commit was one of the most sought after shooters in the nation.

Smooth and Electrifying are the words that comes to mind when you talk about Jacksonville Arlington Country Day’s Brandone Francis.  Francis is a high flyer who can beat you inside and out.

After leading his team to a state Championship, Providence Guard Grayson Allen was one of the main reasons why his AAU team was considered one of the best if not the best team in the nation.  While he is considered a shooter, Allen is an explosive guard who can get to the basket and finish with authority.

Just Missing the Cut

Bradenton IMG Academy Boubacar Moungaro showcased an improved game over the summer.  His ability to stretch the floor with his improved three point shooting makes him just as dangerous on the offensive side of the ball.

Maybe the player with the best summer was Pompano Ely Guard Lance Tejada.  Always known for his toughness, Tejada showed an improved jump shot and an elite ability to lead his team garnering offers from colleges across the nation.

Movers

Oldsmar Christian guard Troy Holston showed why he is considered one of the best pure shooters in the state.  He also had the biggest leap in the Top 50 all the way to four star status.

Martin County Big Man Traevis Graham also was a player who made a huge jump this summer.  He went from being outside of the top 75 to within the top 50.

Other players making leaps includes Miami Central Marvin Jean-Pierre Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson Rodney Simeon and Orlando Christian Prep Brandon Maxwell.

Manning the Middle

While this year the state has an abundance of great guards, there are plenty of talented post players for colleges to select from.

After being injured most of the year, Michigan commit Ricky Doyle is maybe the purest post player we have in the state.  He has a good back to the basket game and can also extend his range to 15 to 20 feet.

The Tampa Bay area produces a couple of the best big men in the state in Tampa Bay Christian Academy Dan Manzi and Tampa Jesuit Isaiah Omoregie

The Jacksonville area is also a hotbed for post players with players such as Jacksonville ACD Terrell Miller, Jacksonville Providence Christian Athlete David Sharpe and Jacksonville ACD Ali Sinera.
