Florida Prospects Thanksgiving Recap

Florida Prospects final thoughts...

Miami Country Day vs Winter Haven would be a matchup everyone would like to see. These two squards were far and away the best of the bunch.

Co MVP's
L. Williams (Lakewood Ranch) and Kayla Allison (Wekiva)

Under The Radar Award
Alyssa Quixley (St Augustine) I'd only seen her on video, solid player!

St. Augustine- Solid club, void of any superstar types.

DP- My how things have changed, no D1 prospects here. Just a bunch of youngins' for the most part. Senior Jah-Nay Anderson and freshman Kyara McClendon lead the way for this squad. Keep working y'all!

Gainesville- Finished 2-0 with wins against Jones and Cape Coral. Auburn signee Janiah Mc Kay did her thing vs top guards KK Wright, Mo Davis and Mc McKenna Beach.

Cape Coral- I enjoyed watching Stetson signee McKenna Beach. She's a very mature player who played at a high level even though she did'nt have a lot of help.

Maclay- Missouri signee Hannah Schuchts went off for a tournament-high 36 including 8 threes vs Wekiva. Camryn Parker also played well for the Marauders.

Wekiva- Allison was outstanding. She does everything well. Along with Walker (LHP), Wright (Jones) and Tyghter (Colonial) Allison is a top player in the area! Ciara Cumbie (PBA) was very active in both games as well.

Lakewood Ranch- Williams, a 6-3 sophomore, is big-time! She runs the court well, has nice hands and finishes well. Aleah Robinson and Junior PG Kailyn Scully also played well.

Jones- Korneila Wright and Mo Davis make up a solid back court for the Tigers. No one played any harder than Davis all weekend!

South Broward- #34 for the Bulldogs can really play. She moves well for a girl her size. She has three point range and handles the ball well.

LHP- The Highlanders went 1-1. Shooting the lights out Friday night before running into a very tough MCD squad Saturday. Eighth grader Koi Love is coming on!

Treasure Coast- Unfortunately, TC's go to girl Alexis Jean (Kennesaw St.) was injured and unable to go, which made things tough vs Edgewater. Yasmine Queen took up the slack in her absence, she gave 110%. 5-8 Sr. Alex Kolb was money from beyond the arc!

Edgewater- Went 2-0. Lovejoy, Patrick and crew are still finding their way this season. Look for this group to make strides as the season progresses. Freshman Emari Bell is one to keep an eye on.

Ft. Myers- The Green Wave went 0-2 for the weekend having to play without freshman all-everything Destanni Henderson, who was out with an injury. Senior Larissa Roker, PG Jarya Outten and Autumn Giles did their best against tough comp. Giles is adjusting to playing on the perimeter, she'll get there. That's the right move to make given her size.

Colonial- Bounced back Saturday with a win against Ft. Myers after a rough outing vs Miami County Day. This group always goes hard. Taking care of the ball and staying out of foul trouble is a must if this squad wants to go places down the road. Gotta play smarter.

Winter Haven- Blitzed both DP and South Broward last weekend, applying pressure right out of the locker room all game long. Madison Wells, Shantrice Solomon, Shaterikka O’Neil, Tatiana Thompson and freshman Diamond Battles just kept coming. They def have something for Edgewater this year!

Miami Country Day- The Top Team in this event. They took care of two of Orlando's top teams, Colonial and LHP with realitive ease. Kelsey Marshall and Channise Lewis were outstanding in the backcourt, while Michelle Berry (Cal State Fullerton) and Ogechi Anyagaligbo (Stony Brook) crashed the boards. Maria Alvarez, Lindsey Pierre and Stephanie Mc Kenzie each had their moments as well. Is there a better squad in the state??

Big thanks to the Florida Prospects crew for an outstanding event. Can't wait for the Christmas Tourney!!!
