      Tampa Plant vs. Seffner Armwood

This game is usually a matchup between a great offense in Tampa Plant against a dominating defense in Seffner Armwood.

Plant

Offensively Plant can match up with many of the top teams in the state.  Junior QB Phillip Ely seems fully healed from an early injury that kept him out of the first two games.

In the backfield Turhan Glover, Deandre Quinn and James Wilder leads the Panthers ground game.  Glover and Quinn are the quick backs who can score from anywhere on the field.  Wilder is the bruiser of the bunch.

Allen Sampson leads a Panthers receiving corp.  Sampson is a two year starter for the Panthers and is entrenched as their big play receiver.  Eric Dungy solidifies the Panthers receiving corp.  Dungy is a bigger receiver at 6’2 and has develop into a reliable target for the Panthers.

Arwmood

Armwood has only dual threat quarterback Josh Grady who has ran the offense very well so far.  He is completing over 70% of his passes with five touchdowns so far.

The running game is where the Hawks excel.  They are led by Sophomore running back Matt Jones who has accounted for over 250 yards rushing with three touchdowns this season.  When Jones isn’t punishing the defense, scat back Sherman Jessie is gashing the defense averaging over 20 yards per carry.

When the Hawks pass the ball, A.J. King is usually the receiver of choice.  King is coming off of a eight reception 178 yard performance against Tampa Wharton and has three touchdowns this year.

Defense

Both Teams have excellent defenses.  Junior DE/OLB James Wilder Jr highlights the Panthers defense.  Wilder is simply unblockable when he rushes.  He disrupts every play.  For Armwood to have a chance to win, they must account for him on every play.

As usual, Armwood has a couple of defensive lineman that has most teams in the state would love to have.  Senior Alton Bailey and Theodore Jackson leads the Hawks.  They have anchored a defense that has only allowed 12 points all year.  They have accounted for 4 force fumbles through three games.

Prediction

The past two years Plant has had Armwood number.  While Plant seems to be hitting on all cylinders, I look for Armwood to make a statement this game.

               Miami Washington vs. Miami Northwestern

In a rematch of one of the most exciting games of last year, the Bulls and Tornadoes meet again for bragging rights.

Offense

Miami
Northwestern

The Bulls are led by Junior Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.  Bridgewater set the Dade County record last week with a seven touchdown performance against HML.

Corvin Lamb leads a Bulls rushing attack.  Lamb has a 13.5 rushing average and has rushed for over 250 yards this season.

The Bulls receiving group is one of the best in the state.  Michalee Harris, Eli Rogers, Lorenzo Shinholster all have caught three touchdowns on the young season and all three are big playmakers.

Miami Washington

While Bridgewater comes into the game as the more well known quarterback, Jeremiah Hay from Washington has actually passed for more yards.  Hay has passed for 671 yards with eight touchdowns.

Eduardo Clements gives the Tornadoes one of the best running backs in the nation.  Clements is a dual threat running back who is getting recruited by every major college in America.

The Tornadoes receiving group rivals the Bulls as well.  Jayvon Wrentz, Ernest Tynes and Jelani Rouland has over 30 receptions for six touchdowns.

Defense

The Bulls defense is led by All State defensive tackle Todd Chandler.  Chandler is a University of Miami commit, who dominates the middle of the defensive line.

The Tornadoes defensive line may be the best in the state.  Led by Lynden Trail, Washington has 15 sacks on the season and only allowed 22 points this year.

Prediction

This is a game for bragging rights.  Last year, Northwestern shocked the Tornadoes by defeating them in the last minute of the game.  This year it will not be as shocking.

Miami Northwestern 35 Miami Washington 21
