Change the Game! South Florida Tip-off Classic for Leukemia
Miami Northwestern High School to Host a few of Florida’s Elite High School Basketball Players
Brandon Knight, Rakeem Buckles, Keion Palmer and Charles Hankerson headline roster
MIAMI, FL (November 1, 2008) – Tony Perkins, announced today that Brandon Knight (Pine Crest), Rakeem Buckles (Monsignor Pace/Louisville), Keion Palmer (South Miami), Charles Hankerson (Coral Reef), Roderick Days (Sagemont) and Angel Rodriguez (Krop) will headline several of South Florida’s top high school basketball teams at the Change the Game! South Florida Tip-off Classic for Leukemia, presented by Tony Perkins Basketball Inc., at Miami Northwestern High School starting on Thursday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m. and ending Saturday November 22 at 8pm.
The Change the Game! South Florida Tip-off Classic for Leukemia was formed after Barry University Men’s basketball coach Cesar Odio was diagnosed with Leukemia in March 2008. This event will showcase eight (8) of South Florida’s talented High School basketball teams; Edward Monsignor Pace, Michael Krop, Coral Reef, South Miami, Piper, Archbishop McCarthy, Sagemont and Pine Crest all in a collective effort to promote Leukemia awareness.
In addition to Knight, Buckles, Palmer, Hankerson and Days, the Change the Game! South Florida Tip-off Classic for Leukemia also includes Jerron Granberry (Coral Reef), Edward Waite (Pine Crest), Steven Lopez (Coral Reef/Lynn University), Fabrizo Melo (Sagemont), Zachary Perkins (Archbishop McCarthy), Van Gray (Piper) and Daren Stewart (Monsignor Pace).
“This event strives to be South Florida’s premier Tip-off Classic,” said Tony Perkins, Director of the South Florida Tip-off Classic. “This event is different because these South Florida teams are competing for a great cause benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.”
Sponsored by Tony Perkins Basketball Inc. and Miami Northwestern High School, the event will also be attended by some of the biggest sport and entertainment stars.
