Turnovers and Free Throws Doom West Port against Seminole

Regional quarterfinal atmosphere at Seminole High (Sanford) was on a high tonite great crowd and you felt it was gonna be a great game between Seminole and West Port.

First quarter both teams came out feeling each other out no one wanted to score then Westport went on a 8-2 run led by sophomore Jalaysha Thomas decided to take over scoring with 6 and Leah Ulrich with 4 as the first quarter ends 12-7.

Second quarter junior Tierra Taylor opens up with a three ball, 12-10, sophomore Tameria Johnson gets a steal scores, then took a charge, back and forth action, senior Olivia Quimby tied the game at 18 with a three ball before West Port went on a 6-0 run again led by Thomas, to put West Port up 24-18 until junior Gryselle Sepulvedo cut it to 24-21 going into the half.

Third quarter Seminole had a whole new focus as they came out blazing 16-0 run, outscoring West Port 18-8 led by juniors Aniquah Swan (9pts) with an array of post moves & Gryselle Sepulvedo (7pts) combined 16 of the 18 points scored in the third quarter causing a lot of havoc making West Port turn the ball over plenty in the quarter to end it up 39-32 Seminole.

Fourth quarter West Port turned up the heat, full court pressing there way back in the game cut the lead down to 45-42, but missed a ton of free throws that ultimately cost them the game and Seminoles Tierra Taylor sealed the victory with clutch free throw shooting in the end 50-45 Seminole victory.

West Port: (Soph) Jalaysha Thomas 17pts 14rebs 4stls 1blk, (Soph) Tameria Johnson 12pts 7stls, (Sr) Shaye Hardy 10pts 5stls
