First quarter Winter Haven jumps out 11-5 smothering defense for the majority of the first half was the same 19-10 halftime lead.

In the second half Lakewood Ranch outscored Winter Haven in the quarter 10-9 but still found themselves down 28-20. Anytime Lakewood Ranch made a run Winter Haven came right back.

Sophomore Diamond Battles was huge she seems to lead this heart and hustle team scoring six straight points to secure the game in route to the 44-28 6A state championship victory, sophomore Tyia Singleton also was huge 10rebs 4blks, seniors Chrisana Scott and Madison Wells Tulane commit and jr, Sharajah Collins also was big for them. Lakewood Ranch star LaDazhia Williams was held to 11pts 5rebs and fouled out the game.

This group works hard and together led by Coach Johnnie Lawson and his great coaching staff, Coach Rashad Tyler and Coach B.D. Washington. This team still young losing a couple key pieces but will still be tough to beat for the next couple years.

Lawson mentioned in the press conference "I can finally take the monkey off my back and can sit at the big peoples table now" with a laugh. great quote, great season.
