The Lakeland Dreadnaughts had a dream season this year. They finished the season with a perfect 15-0 record, winning their second straight 5A state championship and the mythical national championship crown as well by finishing number one in the USA today high school poll. As good as the Dreadnaughts were this year, they can be even better this year. The team was led by playmaking juniors on both sides of the balls. One player hoping to lead the Dreadnaughts to a third state title is junior defensive back Ahmad Black.

Florida prospects sat down with unheralded lineman DeMario Jones of Jacksonville Raines High School to talk to him about his past season and his thoughts of what college he may be attending.

Sarasota Booker’s senior quarterback Darante Hunter isn’t your ideal quarterback. He stands at only 5’10 180lbs. He doesn’t have the strongest arm and may not be the fastest player on the field. What makes Hunter light shines so brightly is his undeniable will to compete and his will to be successful.

Coming into the 2005 football season, no player had a bigger target on his back than St. Augustine Nease All-American quarterback Tim Tebow. After passing for over 4,000 yards and over 50 combined touchdowns during his junior campaign, expectations for a magical senior year was set very high. While breaking numerous school and state records, Tebow led his school to it’s first ever state football championship. He has also earned our award as Florida Prospects Football Player of the Year.

Florida Prospects discuss boys basketball at Flanagan High with silky smooth guard, Brandon Reese , and how his experience last year, starting as a freshman, help him to prepare for this season. Reese is currently averaging 15 points, 8 assists and 4 steals per game.

Standing at 5’11 205lbs, Lakeland’s star linebacker Scott Bryant has heard all of the reasons why he can’t be a top linebacker on the collegiate level. They have said that he is too small. That he is not fast enough and that he may be better suited at another position. The one thing that most people don’t measure is his will to be the very best player and that will is why so many coaches and teammates love him.

With so many great players on his team, Belle Glades Central star running back Ashton Samuels is often overshadowed by his other teammates. With a quarterback who has passed for over 2,000 yards and two of the top junior players at wide receiver in the state, most teams overlook Samuels and the Raiders running game. What teams soon realize is that not only Samuels is one of the best players on the Central team, but is also one of the better running backs in the state.
