As we approach the conclusion of a fantastic AAU season, In the Zone Magazine, organized a tournament for the South Florida area known as the Battle of the Best. This tournament featured numerous of Florida Prospects’ Top 50 players in the state. There were 10 teams entering this astonishing event, but only one can claim to be the best. The Best of the Best were the Miami Tropics, edging out the Florida Prospects’ Ballas, 95-85 in the championship game.

Over the last three years, Jacksonville Sandalwood has seen resurgence in its football program. During this span, the Saints have gone from a middle of the road team to one of the better teams in the city of Jacksonville. While the Saints lost All Florida Prospects Running Back Maurice Wells (Ohio State) and All State Linebacker Marvin Sapp (South Carolina) to graduation, they return a solid nucleus that is ready to make a run for a state title. Leading the charge for the Saints this year will be super athlete Jamar Hornsby.

In the Zone Sports, Inc., is proud to announce the 1st Annual Battle of the Best Travel Team Tournament that will be held July 1-3, 2005, in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area the Salvation Army Gym and Sunrise Piper High School.

Last year Miami Booker T. Washington came within one point of going to the state championship game losing to eventual state champion Seffner Armwood 35-34. With the majority of their team returning, Washington is the favorite to win the title this year. Dennis Perdue caught up with Washington’s quarterback Alwan Lee to ask him about his junior year his expectations for his upcoming season and what school he might be attending.

Tremayne Russell walked on South Dade High School campus three years ago with a lot of confidence, starting his freshman season. Russell, 6’0” point guard, led the Buccaneers basketball team to a 16 win season last year.

When you play linebacker in the state of Florida, you are not only competing against the top linebackers in the nation, but you are also competing against the history and tradition of the great Florida linebackers of the past. The state has been blessed with a tremendous amount of talent year end and year out and this year is no exception. One player looking to continue the great tradition of linebackers will be Labrandon Glover of Pensacola High.

Last year St. Augustine High made it to the state semi finals before losing to the eventual state champions Jacksonville Bolles in the playoffs. With the majority of its team returning, many people are picking St. Augustine High to be one of the best teams in the state. Helping the Jackets to make a run at a state title will be WR/DB Quentin Hancock .

On June 16, 2005, Florida Prospects joined with the Ballas Organization to form Florida Prospects Ballas AAU team. Tommie Butts sat down with Ballas Coach Lou Vives to talk with him about his team and what he thinks about joining Florida Prospects.

Over the last five years, Jacksonville Andrew Jackson High school has quietly produced some of the better football prospects in the state. Over that span of time, the Tigers has produced players such as: Leon Washington (FSU), Tripp Carroll (Virginia Tech), Danny Bell, (Ole Miss), George Stripling (Louisville) and Michael Hicks (Ole Miss). This year, the Tigers are loaded again with a number of prospects that will be recruited to play college football. Leading the way will be WR Jamal Harvey.

On June 16, 2005 Florida Prospects partner with the Ballas Basketball Organization to form Florida Prospects Ballas AAU. Here is some of the team's history and accomplishments.

In our continuing efforts to promote all of Florida's kids, Florida Prospects is proud to announce its first AAU basketball team.

Last year Jacksonville Arlington Country Day easily dismantled every school in the state in route to winning the class 2A state championship team. That team featured top 2005 players like David Huertas (Florida), Sammy Hernandez (George Mason) and Brian Hoff. It’s no surprise that the class 2A player came from the school. What may surprise some is that it wasn’t Huertas, Hernandez or Hoff, but it was junior guard Josue Soto taking home the honor as the best player in Class 2A.

Last year Jacksonville Andrew Jackson High School produced some of the top players in the state. They had several players to receive scholarship offers including Michael Hicks who committed to Ole Miss. This year, the Tigers are loaded again with top talent. Dennis Perdue caught up with one of the Tigers top players Jonathan Brown, who is one of the better defensive tackles in the state, to talk about their team, his goals, and his recruitment for the upcoming year.

The 2007 Boys Basketball class is shaping up to be one of the best recruiting classes the state has had in the last 10 years. The class already has three players committed to play major Division One college basketball and is loaded with players who will not only play on the collegiate level, but on the professional level as well. Today Florida Prospects is proud to announce its first set of Five Star players for the class of 2007.
