Orlando Jones star defensive lineman Jerry Howard has played a major role in the recent resurgence to the Tigers football program. Last year he helped the Tigers finish with their first winning season in 11 years. He also led the Tigers to a victory over cross town rival Orlando Evans high school for the first time in 21 years.


 

Celtics Continues Their Winning Ways

On Friday August 18, the Celtics of Ocala Trinity Catholic began the 2006 football year like they ended it, with a win. Playing in front of a crowd of about 500 fans, the Celtics defeated the Madison County Cowboys 28-18 in the Fall Jamboree to start their first step of their journey to repeat as 2B state champions.

Last year St. Augustine Nease High School had the eyes of the entire state on them as they played every game. With everybody’s All-American Tim Tebow at quarterback, their offense rolled through the season scoring at will in virtually every game. With all the attention given to the offense, it was the defense of Nease’s that helped secure the team’s first state title. With Tebow gone, Nease will depend heavily on their defense again if they plan on making a return trip to the state finals.
