The 2011 Florida Football class is shaping up to be one of the best classes throughout the nation. The class bolsters several players who will be highly ranked nationally with potentially the top player in the nation. Today Florida Prospects releases our Pre-Season Boys Top 100 for the class of 2012.

As Florida Prospects prepares to release its initial lists of 5 star football players for the class of 2012 we first wanted to share our grading process with you. Our grading scale is a combination of scores in 5 categories which are: Athleticism, Field Presence, Potential, Stature, and Technique. Here is a synopsis for what we look for in each category and a description of how we score the athletes as well as our general grading scale.

After losing to Miami Lourdes Academy in the state semifinals, Orlando Dr. Phillips Lady Panthers immediately set a goal of not only returning to Lakeland, but to go to the championship game. After a 51-41 victory over South Broward in their semifinal game, the Panthers has accomplished their team goal and now has their sights on a state title.

Tampa Sickles knew coming into the game that they had to be careful with the ball and keep the game at a low scoring pace against Winter Haven if they had a chance of winning the 5A semi-final game. Sickles was able to succeed in keeping the score low but, a season high 27 turnovers doomed the Gryphons as they lost 50- 42 to Winter Haven.

The 5A state semifinals game between Gainesville Buchholz and Ft. Lauderdale Dillard featured two teams with different championship histories. Buchholz had just made the final four after losing in the regional finals for three consecutive years by a total of eight points while Dillard had just won their fifth state title under legendary head coach Marcia Pender. In a game between two of the most physical teams in the state, Dillard hung on to defeat Buchholz 60-54 and to advance to the 5A state championship game on Saturday.

Besides playing for a national title, national signing day is the most important day for high school football players. Here is an update on some of the signings around the state.

Held each year in Orlando at Jones High School, FloridaProspects.com brings together teams from Central Florida and matches them against some of the best teams in the state. Robert Sumpter and his staff do a very good job and this year was no exception.

The Third Annual Florida Prospects Girls Invitational held in Orlando Florida December 20-22 featured some of the top teams in the state of Florida. With over 20 different college scouts in the building looking at the teams, the event was an enormous success.

I’m so excited I’m writing this in the dark at about 5 in the morning and I can feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins, and I’m not putting on a single pad tonight. There are State Championship games and then there are Heavyweight Title Fights. When The Orlando Dr. Phillips Panthers and Miami Central Rockets take the field tonight for the 6A State title game expect the latter.

This week’s Girls Basketball Top 25 poll was shaken by unexpected results, however, this week is filled with big time rivalry matchups and early district positioning.

Over the Thanksgiving Holidays, one of the premier basketball events of the season will take place at Wekiva High School. Over a 2-day period, 15 games will pit Orlando Metro schools against some of the finest competition from around the state of Florida putting Orlando-Metro pride on the line.

The 2010-11 girls basketball season begins with many surprises.

This week has seen major movements in committments to colleges around the state. Two of Florida's potential five star players made their decision to which college they will attend.

This year’s class of Linebackers is very similar to that of the Defensive Linemen in that although the quantity of quality talent is exceptional. The exceptional talent is sparse, that is at least as long as James Wilder Jr. Insist on playing running back. There is one phenomenal player, a couple of very good prospects and a bunch of young men who will be solid contributors at the next level however they have not yet displayed the potential they will need to they will develop into stars.

The 2010 high school football season is halfway through and there are still many questions left to be answered. Many questions will be answered this week as many of the top teams starts to play against each other. Here is a late Monday Morning Quarterback edition.

The most sought after basketball recruit of the 2011 basketball class is Winter Park's Austin Rivers. Today Rivers announce where he would be taking his services.

Week 8 is in the books and the football season is off to a great start. Their were a few changes in the Top 25 this week, with three new teams making their debut. Here is the top 25 for Week 9.

Last year, Orlando Dr. Phillips and Orlando Olympia played two games against each other that went down to the final play of the game and Dr. Phillips winning. This year, the Panthers didn’t leave any room for doubt as they defeated the Titans 49-0 in front of a sold out Titan stadium.

Week two is over and the elite teams are starting show. Not to many changes this week but the Poll has a couple of newcomers. Here is the top 25 for Week Three.

This year has an excellent crop of defensive lineman talent in the State of Florida. Florida is well known for producing Big Time Defensive end recruits so it is a pleasant surprise that the year’s most coveted prospect is a Defensive Tackle/Nose Guard. However there are several highly touted prospects who present different skill sets and measurable.
