Premium Story Florida Prospects Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Last year South Broward finished the season 13-9 losing to Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas in the first round of the 2005 state playoffs. The first round defeat was the earliest defeat that the Bulldogs had suffered in the playoffs in over five years. The goal of the 2006 season was to reestablish South Broward as a state power. Despite losing to Miami Norland 54-44, in the State Semifinals, South Broward succeeded in their goal in making the Bulldogs a state power once again. Leading the way for South Broward was senior guard Alysha Harvin.

After a junior year in which he averaged over 15 points a game and help to lead Raines to the Regional Final game, Warren is set to have a stellar senior year. Winter Haven will be looking for her point guard leadership abilities to carry them for another championship run this season.

The University of South Florida came out a winner when Dante Curry, 6’5” guard from Poinciana High School verbally committed to become a Bull next season during the summer AAU season. The future Bull has the ability to change the pace of a game by playing solid defense and scoring quickly. He is described as being a savvy, smooth, athletic guard with the most consistent shot in the state.

On Friday September 9, there were two teams squaring off to prove its Florida Prospects’ state ranking, was not considered “overrated.” Miami Booker T. Washington Tornadoes and Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna Lions were ranked number two and seven in the Florida Prospects’ state poll, respectively. In what was picked as the game of the week, Washington showed why they are considered one of the best teams in the state.

Monday night’s football game between Pompano Blanche Ely Tigers and Boyd Anderson Cobras, was a prime example of the cliché “Its Not Over Until Its Over.” The Tigers had a convincing 19-point lead for three quarters to see it all vanish in the fourth. Frustration in Disney

The Disney Wide World of Sports Complex was filled with future collegiate basketball stars this past weekend. Players from different states playing with different styles all competed to play for the same goal, exposure. Majority of these players play significant roles on their varsity high school team in their area. Therefore, distributing playing minutes were the biggest problem for the AAU coaches involved in this event. There were many college recruiters on hand to witness athletic abilities from those participating in this exceptional event held in Orlando, Florida.

Battle of the Best AAU Tournament Recap

As we approach the conclusion of a fantastic AAU season, In the Zone Magazine, organized a tournament for the South Florida area known as the Battle of the Best. This tournament featured numerous of Florida Prospects’ Top 50 players in the state. There were 10 teams entering this astonishing event, but only one can claim to be the best. The Best of the Best were the Miami Tropics, edging out the Florida Prospects’ Ballas, 95-85 in the championship game.
