Every Wednesday during the football year, Florida Prospects showcase an athlete who may not be known throughout the state, but could easily be a Division One athlete. Today we showcase Naples Barron Collier’s do it all athlete Matt Clements.

Clements has nice size at his position standing at 6’2,190lbs. He consistently runs a 4.4 forty yard dash and has a 3.0 grade point average.

Last year Clements was one of the Southwest Florida leading receivers. He finished the year with 50 receptions for 726 yards, and over 800 yards of total offense with eight touchdowns.

When talking to Clements the first impressing you get from him is that he's confident in his game and feels he has a lot to prove to recruiters, his coaches, and some doubters who thinks that he may not be the real thing.

"I know I can take my game to next level, and there's no one out there who can stop me. I feel with my speed, and the ability to get out on the edge and block, plus be physical is what separates me from a lot of other receivers. I feel I'm the best in the game right now, and my parents, friends, and some others who are watching me is what really motivates me to go out and help my team win " replied Matt.

So far this year, Clements Barron Collier’s team has not had the season he would have expected at 3-4, but it hasn’t stop Clements from competing. He has been all over the field for the Cougars. Playing wide receiver, lining up at cornerback and he has even played quarterback through the first five games of this season.

As for his game, Clements feels he has some Reggie Bush-like capabilities, but patterns his game after no one. His leadership and big play ability sparks his team, but "confidence" definitely describes the athlete as a player.

"I'm an all around team player for my team, and I lead by example on and off the field” said Clements. My teammates and coaches expect me to make big plays at all times and that’s what I do."

Colleges have also taken notice of the playmaking ability of Clements. As of now he has many big offers from several colleges across the nation.

"Right now I like West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and South Carolina, but Ohio State is recruiting me heavily along with Virginia, South Florida, Central Florida, and many more." Clements said. I’m looking for a school that will give me the best opportunity to come in a play early and compete for playing time. The coaches have to be genuine, I need a good education for life after football, and the atmosphere/environment has to be up to par because this is where I have to live for the next 3-4 years."

Florida Prospects will continue to keep you posted on Clements college decision as he goes through his senior season.
