Florida Prospects Unknown Player of the Week

Every Wednesday during the football year, Florida Prospects showcase an athlete who may not be known throughout the state, but could easily be a Division One athlete. Today we showcase Crawfordville Wakulla star athlete Dion Bryant.

Bryant is a high profile player who can play so many positions and is an impact player no matter where he is out on the field. He has a great combination of size (6-1, 195lbs) and good speed (running in the 4.5 range), but his best assets are running and catching the ball.

“Bryant is the type of player who is more quick than fast. He has excellent footwork and that make you miss ability that keeps everyone watching and waiting for the big play to happen.” Florida Prospects Football Analyst Robert Sumpter said.

"I play the game quick as I can and look for creases in the defense when I carry the ball." Bryant said. I am expected to be one of the leaders on my team so I prepare like one. I bring a winning attitude to the team and a great work ethic.

Bryant compares his game to LaDainian Tomlinson of the Chargers because of his able to catch the ball out of the back field and his vision on the field.

This season, Bryant feels that he has something to prove this season because of how he ended his junior year. Last year he led the team in scoring with eleven touchdowns and was on his way to an all state performance before he hurt his leg and missed the rest of the season.

“I worked hard over the summer by staying after practice doing extra drills for agility, catching passes, and just trying to be overall better than I was a year ago. I want to prove to everyone that although I was hurt, I am improved on both sides of the ball.

Many colleges are sending Bryant letters but he has no offers as of now, but he remains motivated about the opportunity of being recruited.

"I'm just looking for a school with a great filming program, a place where there are good player/coaches relationship and a good football program." replied Bryant."

When asked what word or phrase that describes him, he quickly responded with “Hungry”.

I just want it. That’s why I compete at the best of my ability. I want to prove to coaches that I am a top-notched athlete who just needs a chance."

Whatever college lands the services of Bryant is going to have themselves a real steal of a recruit. Florida Prospects will continue to monitor the progress of Bryant as he leads Wakulla through the playoffs.
