Friday Night Playoff Preview

Nov 11, 2005

Friday’s match up between Jacksonville Raines High and St.Augustine High School is one of the best games in the state. The game features one of the best offensive teams in the state in St. Augustine High versus one of the best defensive teams in Jacksonville Raines.

Raines(9-1), comes in as one of the areas hardest hitting defenses led by Donsay Hardeman, Jerman "Bear" Clark, and Kion Wilson, which all are easily Division-1 prospects sought after by colleges all over.

Florida Prospects asked Donsay Hardeman, Times Union-Super 11, how he feels about the up coming game this Friday.

“I’m not ready to go home, and I'm going to do everything in my power to help my team to advance to the next round of the playoffs, even if I have to play some wide receiver, running back, or whatever it takes to win the game.” Hardeman said.

"This is a big game for us and we need to find a way to neutralize there speed. They're fast at all the skill positions, and we have to be sound in our tackling game, because we can't arm tackle these guys and expect to win." Coach Thornton of Raines said.

Quinterrance Cooper, St.Augustine's Junior quarterback, offered his opinion on the game against Raines.

“I noticed their defense on tape, and they look like a solid bunch of guys. They really run to the ball well. We just have to execute our offense and special teams, if we want to be successful and score. On defense we are solid defense and we are sound in the kicking game”

Both teams have excellent cover-corners, in which, Raines's Greg Pollard, can return punts or interceptions for touchdowns if you make that kind of mistake. However, there is no exception for another Times Union Super-11 athlete in Jacques Rickerson, who is one of the state’s most explosive players at any position on the field. His ability to change a game, along with fellow teammate and sibling Brandon James, is breath-taking and both are instant impact players whenever they step on the field.

This will clearly be a very physical game, in which, who ever controls the line of scrimmage and force the most turnovers, will move on to the next round.

Prediction

St. Augustine High 35 Jacksonville Raines 28
