Midnight Basketball Hosts Ninth Invitational at Jones High School

Orlando, Fla.

The Center For Drug-Free Living, Inc. will host its Ninth Annual Arthur

Jackson Midnight Basketball Invitational at Jones High School in Orlando. Girls will play December 18, 19 & 20, 2008. Games times will be 4:30 pm, 6:00 pm, 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm on Thursday and Friday, and at 3:00 pm, 4:30 pm, 6:00 pm and 7:45 pm on Saturday. Jones High School, Pine Castle Christian Academy, Edgewater High School, Osceola High School, The First Academy, Miami Edison Senior High School, Agape Christian Academy and Pitt Meadows Secondary School (British Columbia) will round out the girls' tournament.

Boys will play December 27, 29 & 30, 2008 and will include Montverde Academy, Christopher Columbus High School, Coral Glades High School, Ocoee High School, Miami Edison Senior High School, Agape Christian Academy, Barrington Christian Academy and Cypress Creek High School. Games times will be 3:00 pm, 4:30 pm, 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm on Saturday and Monday, and at 3:00 pm, 4:30 pm, 6:00 pm and 7:45 pm on Tuesday.

Highlights during the MBI include music & entertainment provided by DJ Ken Moore and Inferno Music Group, a raffle for an autographed sports memorabilia basket and a stay & play package at the Kennedy Space Center and Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach Resort, awards for All-Tournament Teams and Most Valuable Players, and qualifying rounds for the FAAZ Magazine Slam Dunk Competition. Admission is $5.00 per person ages 6 and up. Donations will be accepted for event programs which will include a coupon for McDonald's.

The Midnight Basketball Invitational was designed in 2000 to not only highlight some of the most exciting high school basketball in Florida, but more importantly to offer positive, structured activities to youth and their families during the holiday season. Arthur Jackson Midnight Basketball of Florida is a prevention program that has been providing positive alternative activities for youth since 1991 by offering late-night basketball games on Friday and Saturday nights along with a variety of year-round events in Central Florida.
