Reebok Headliner Camp

This past weekend, 84 for 32 Hoops hosted their second Reebok Headliner camp in Jacksonville Florida.  The camp is designed to showcase some of the top underclassmen in the state, and it gives an opportunity for the top players of the camp to compete at Reebok University.

Star Power

Orlando Dr. Phillips rising junior guard Shayne Larkin proved to the rest of the state why he is considered one of the best players in the nation.  Larkin was simply unstoppable all weekend.  His ability to get to the basket at will and make smart decisions makes him one of the top rated players for the class of 2011.

Jacksonville Wolfson forward Aaron Bowen showed why Marquette may be getting one of the biggest steals in the 2010 class.  Bowen has improved his outside shooting and was one of the most athletic players in the camp.

Jacksonville ACD Wing Delron Sumney was aggressive the entire camp.  After a slow start in his first game, Sumney averaged close to 15 points a game and had several spectacular dunks.

New Faces

Chris Griffin may not have been known to the majority of the state, but after his performance at the Headliner camp he is well on his way.  At 6’6 the Tallahassee Leon forward was able to score inside and showed a nice touch from behind the three point line.

Clermont East Ridge sophomore Robert Brown was solid both days on offense and defense.  At 6’3 Brown is an athletic Wing who can score from the outside and is not afraid to go strong to the basket and finish.

Marcus Maye of Holy Trinity may be young, but he is talented.  He’s a strong scoring  guard who can shoot the three ball and with his size 6’3 close to 200 pounds, he is not afraid of contact.

The Next Generation

Solomon Poole is only an eight grader, but many people are thinking he has an opportunity to be just as good or even better than older brother Stacey Poole.  He displayed great quickness at the guard position and just like his big brother, the athleticism is there.

Gainesville Eastside freshman Benji Bell showed that he has been working hard since last year’s camp.  Bell, who is the brother of the late Dante Anderson, was arguably the most consistent player at the camp.  He was aggressive in attacking the basket and his jump shot was connecting all weekend long.

In’s and Outs

Lake Brantley’s Guard Vince Dillard emerged as one of the surprises of the camp.  He is finally healed from his knee injury and was in attack mode the entire camp.  He got to the basket at ease and showed that he is more athletic than once thought.

Winter Springs Forward Luis Jacobo continued to show why he is considered one of the best offensive talents in the state.  Jacobo can score inside and out and his athletic ability makes him an interesting prospect.

Lakewood sophomore guard Michael Singleton was the fastest player at the camp.  He penetrated to the basket at ease and showed an improved jump shot.

Jacksonville First Coast Big Man Cornelius Johnson showed improved touch around the basket.

Jacksonville University commit Admir Sahbegovic displayed an improved game around the basket.

Tallahassee Rickards Guard Avery Moore may be the most dangerous player in the state from beyond the arc.

Wekiva High Guard Cornell Gunter displayed a better looking shot from the outside.  Defensively, Gunter was one of the best players in the Underclassman group.

Jacksonville Ribault Forward Justin Chandler doesn’t have the idea size, but is very efficient around the basket.

Camp Surprises

Jacksonville Mandarin F Charles McRoy II is an interesting prospect.  He stands about 6’7 but seems to be more comfortable on the perimeter.

Jacksonville ACD Freshman Kampertino Rolle, sure looks the part of the next dominant player from their school.  At 6’7 he’s a raw prospect but is very active around the basket.

Jacksonville Wolfson Sophomore Guard Alan Connerly may not be a complete player, but he can score in bunches.  He was effective from beyond the arc and was able to finished once he got into the paint.

Once again the Reebok Headliner camp proved to be one of the best camps in the state giving an opportunity for many players to showcase their talents and get a shot to play amongst the big boys across the nation.  Thanks again to Ryan Delafield and the entire 84 for 32 Hoops organization for a very well run camp.
