Central Florida Quarterback Ready for Big Year

Last year when you thought about quarterbacks in Florida only one name came to mind. Tim Tebow. With state records in yards, touchdowns and total offense, Tebow clearly established himself as the best quarterback in the state for 2005. This year the state is loaded again with exciting quarterbacks. One quarterback that will be turning many heads with his play on the field is Lake Howell’s Taylor Beasley.

Sarasota Booker made school history in boys football last year as there team made it to the state championship game for the first time. Although they came up short losing to St. Augustine High in the state finals, the Tornadoes are determined more than ever to return to the finals and bring home a state championship. One player who will be leading the charge is super athlete John Jones Jr..

Jacksonville Receiver Is Ready to Take Flight

Jacksonville Bolles wide receiver Traviers Herndon wants to let everyone he faces next year to be prepared for a long day. While he had a good junior campaign, he was injured the entire year and wasn’t able to truly showcase his full potential. Now 100 percent healthy, Herndon is looking forwards to the 2006 season to prove that he is one of best players in the state.

Armwood Defensive Lineman One of the Best In the State

Over the past three years, no school has enjoyed more success than Seffner Armwood high school. With two state football titles and a state runner-up, Armwood has dismissed the Hillsborough county jinx and established themselves as one of the elite football programs in the state. The success of the program can be traced to the talent that the school has had over the past five years. This year, the program will be looking to continue it’s dominance over the state. Leading the way will be their all state defensive lineman Torrey Davis.
Florida Prospects Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Last year South Broward finished the season 13-9 losing to Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas in the first round of the 2005 state playoffs. The first round defeat was the earliest defeat that the Bulldogs had suffered in the playoffs in over five years. The goal of the 2006 season was to reestablish South Broward as a state power. Despite losing to Miami Norland 54-44, in the State Semifinals, South Broward succeeded in their goal in making the Bulldogs a state power once again. Leading the way for South Broward was senior guard Alysha Harvin.

Lake Howell Forward Is One of the Best in the State for 2007

Over the past two seasons Lake Howell basketball has captured the attention of the entire state. From 2003-2004 when the Silver Hawks made the final game starting three freshmen to last year’s final four team; Lake Howell has the eyes of the basketball world on them. With the majority of its team intact, Lake Howell is expected to finally win the 5A crown that keeps eluding them. One of the main cogs in the Silver Hawks offense is junior forward Chandler Parsons.
Jacksonville Running Back Is Ready to Take on the State

The state of Florida routinely produces some of the best running backs in the nation. Last year was no exception with the state having several high Division One running backs including the number one running back in the nation in Union County’s C.J. Spiller. Don’t expect this year to be a down year as the state is once again loaded with great running backs. One player to watch for the upcoming year will be Jacksonville Ed White running back Eric Baker.

RJM Sporting & Events, Inc. will host its 6th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Classic boy’s basketball tournament on January 6-7, 2006. The tournament will be held at William M. Raines High School in Jacksonville, FL.

December 28 through December 30 Ocala Forest High school hosted the 17th Annual Don Kelso State Farm/Closet maid Girls basketball tournament. The tournament is widely considered as the best girl’s basketball tournament in the state of Florida and this year was no different. With a total of seven teams ranked in the top 10 for their perspective classed and three teams ranked number one in the state, the tournament lived up to its reputation and then some.
