Q & A with Kion Wilson

Over the past five years, Jacksonville Raines has had one of the best defenses in the state. Last year the Vikings defense was so dominant that they lost their second head coach to join a staff at another school as a defensive coordinator. Every one in the state knows about star safety Donsay Hardeman, but it’s another Viking who is started to get attention. Dennis Perdue caught up with William Raines high school linebacker Kion Wilson to ask him about his junior year his expectations for his upcoming season and what school he might be attending.

Washington Proves that they Are Legit

On Friday September 9, there were two teams squaring off to prove its Florida Prospects’ state ranking, was not considered “overrated.” Miami Booker T. Washington Tornadoes and Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna Lions were ranked number two and seven in the Florida Prospects’ state poll, respectively. In what was picked as the game of the week, Washington showed why they are considered one of the best teams in the state.

The past two years have seen Lakeland Lake Gibson make it to the state championship game only to fall short. Although they have lost many of their starters from the previous two years, they do return a handful of seniors returning who are looking to return to the state championship game. Michael Holloway caught up with Lake Gibson’s star defensive back Chris Duvalt to ask him about his junior year his expectations for his upcoming season and what school he might be attending.

St. Thomas Rolls to Victory

On Friday September 2, St. Thomas Aquinas (1-0) played host to Cardinal Gibbons for a friendly football game. The only problem was that Aquinas was not a pleasant host, putting Cardinal Gibbons Redskins (0-1) in the dark 35-3, while securing there spot as a state power.
Tigers Fail To Finish

Palm Beach Gardens do it all athlete Emmanuel Cook doesn’t lack of confidence. In fact he is quick to tell you that he is one of the best players in the state. Why should he lack confidence? He helped to lead the Gators to an 8-2 record last year before losing in the Regional Finals to Pompano Beach Ely. This year the Gators are looking to make another run at the state title and Cook will be leading the way.

Jacksonville Linebacker Is One to Watch

Last year Jacksonville Robert E. Lee High School continued to show improvement as they finished the season 7-3 and earned a return trip to the playoffs. Unfortunately the trip ended sooner than they wanted to as they fell to Jacksonville Andrew Jackson in the first round. With key returning starters returning, the Generals are hoping to improve on last year’s performance and go deeper into the playoffs. Leading the charge for the Generals will be linebacker Alonzo McQueen.
