Florida Prospects’:
Boys Basketball

 Preseason “Player of the Year”

Kenny Boynton, Jr.

6’3”- Senior Guard – American Heritage High (Plantation, Fl)

Considered by most collegiate coaches, as a player with the total package, Kenny Boynton, Jr. (aka K.B.) decided to stay in Florida to start his collegiate career. Boynton will enroll at the University of Florida this upcoming summer of June 2009.  The future Gator chose Florida over Duke, Texas, Memphis, USC, Villanova, and Georgia Tech among the top choices.

“I felt very comfortable after visiting University of Florida. Just being in that atmosphere, I knew that is where I wanted to be,” said Boynton.

With his fierce competitive attitude, Boynton has the ability to score from anywhere on the floor.  He attacks the basket fearlessly, and displays unbelievable range from the perimeter.  Kenny Boynton, Jr. is one of  the best scoring guard in the nation in the 2009 class, however there are concerns about Boynton’s game going into collegiate level.   Where will Boynton’s natural position be?  Will his shot selection develop or improve from his high school career?  And will K.B. make his teammates better?

Kenny Boynton, Jr. started his high school basketball career on the varsity team, as an eighth grader, at North Broward Prep. (Coconut Creek, Fl.). As a freshman, K.B. transferred to Blanche Ely High (Pompano Beach), where he played for two years, and won a State Title his sophomore year.

As a junior, Boynton averaged 34.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game leading American Heritage to the Regional Semifinals losing to 3A State Champs, Pine Crest 90-76.

“Playing with Team Breakdown during the summers really helped showcase my talent to different colleges,” said Boynton.

In the City of Palms Classic, held in Ft. Myers, Boynton showed basketball fans his natural scoring ability by posting 61 points in a regular 32-minute contest vs. Ft. Myers Dunbar H.S. Boynton finished with 22 of 33 from the field and 11 of 18 from the 3-point arc.

“I remember having a sore knee the night before. But I told myself to suck it up and play through it. Everything I put up, went in,” stated Boynton.

This 2008-2009 season should be very exciting for Boynton as he battle Brandon Knight (Pine Crest, junior guard) for the last time in his high school career. Look for an outstanding performance from Kenny Boynton, Jr. this season, as anything less than a State Title for American Heritage, will be a disappointment for the sensational Florida recruit call K.B.
