Florida Prospects Basketball Analyst Tommie Butts recently caught up with Thomas to discuss her decision on choosing where she will be playing her college career.

FP: First I would like to congratulate you on your decision to choose Duke University.

KT: Thank You

FP: What made you choose Duke University?

KT: Duke was my dream school and I have always wanted to attend Duke since the age of five. It’s the best opportunity for me and that is where my heart wanted me to be.

FP: What other schools did you consider?

KT: Maryland and Vanderbilt were the other top schools on my list.

FP: What position are you going to play at the school?

KT: Most likely I am going to be playing the (4) power forward or (5) center position. I really feel the coach will used me majority at the (4) power forward spot.

FP: What are your expectations for the first year?

KT: First of all, I expect to get stronger physically in high school to help prepare me for the next level. As a freshman in college, I expect to compete and work hard everyday in practice.

FP: Are you glad that you made an early decision to commit early?

KT: The recruiting process can be stressful and timely, which may cause a player to lose focus on the rest of his/her high school career. As a senior, I do not have to worry about playing for anyone in the stands or worry about if a particular recruiter shows up at the game or not. The best thing about committing early is that you are given the opportunity to have fun and there is no pressure on you about making a decision on a college.

FP: Have you decided on a major?

KT: I want to become a doctor in the future so I guess, medical. This will be a beautiful thing for me because Duke is considered one of the best institutions for medicine studies. Academics are very important to me as well as athletics. I guess I am lucky to have the best of both worlds with the complete package.

FP: What do you expect to bring to the program?

KT: Even though Duke has a stellar program, I am bringing an athletic 6’4” frame with athleticism that can run the floor very well. Because I demand a double and triple team in high school, I feel my game will open up more with more talented players.

FP: Now that you have your College decision out of the way, what are your goals for the remaining of your high school career?

KT: To improve on my 16 points per game and lead my team to Lakeland to win another state championship.

FP: Thanks for the interview Krystal and congratulations again.

KT: Thank You
