Finish the Job! That's been Winter Haven's message from the day basketball season started. This game will be no different as they defeated Naples Barron Collier 55-44 to advance to the 5A state championship to play Clearwater.

Winter Haven got off to an early start jumping on the Cougars 12-2 in the first quarter and was never really tested.

"We knew they were a good team and they had a great coach, we just wanted to come out and play Winter Haven basketball and we knew if we played our style of game, we would be in a good position to win the game." Winter Haven coach LaDawn Gibson said.

Winter Haven's junior guard Tiffany Hayes led the Blue Devils with 26 points and took up the scoring slack all game as the Blue Devils was plague with foul trouble from Amber Smith and Kiara Francisco.

"Tiffany had a great game for us and our bench play really helped us tonight. I think that was one of the major differences in this game compared to last year's game. Last year I would look at our bench and wouldn't have confidence, this year we develop our bench and it has really helped our team." Coach Gibson said.

The Blue Devils had to go deeper into their bench as assistant coach Rashad Tyler had to do a lot of the coaching because Coach Gibson was battling an earlier bout of food poisoning.
