Central Florida Guard Ready for a Big Season

Going into the 2009 season Wekiva guard D’Andre Bullard was a relatively unknown prospect. Unlike many of the top players in his area, Bullard didn’t have any Varsity experience and wasn’t expected to play a major role. But with a solid junior campaign and an excellent summer, Bullard has proven that he is one of the better players in the Central Florida area.

Warriors Wins Battle of Reigning State Champions

Built as the most anticipated finals match-up in the championship brackets, the Jacksonville Arlington Country Day Apaches played against the Orlando Christian Prep Warriors for the1A state championship. With seven state championships between the two teams over the past seven years, the Orlando Christian Prep Warriors were able to hold off a late charge by ACD to win the 1A state title.

At the end of the 2009 basketball season, the South Broward Bulldogs were in prime position to be one of the best teams if not the best team in the state of Florida. They had their entire team returning and were poised to make a state title run.
Lady Vikings Wins Second State Championship

It wasn’t pretty or the type of game Miami Norland Lady Vikings is accustomed to playing but at the end of the day the Lady Vikings got the same result, a victory and another state championship defeating Pensacola 43-38 in overtime for the 4A state championship.
Maye Leads Panthers to 5th State Title

The Boca Ciega Lady Pirates jumped out to an early 9-0 lead against the Dillard Lady Panthers in the 5A title game causing the Panthers to call a time-out. After the time-out the Panthers woke up led by senior Dawn Maye as they defeated the Lady Pirates 53-44 to win the 5A state championship.
Lions Outlast Eagles for State Title

The Rock Lions came into the class 1A state final looking to win the first state Girls Basketball Title in the Gainesville area since 1997. The Lions had to wait until the final second of the game to accomplish their goal defeating the Hollywood Christian Eagles 51-48.

Panthers Get Back to Winning Ways

After losing their first game of the year in the district finals to Apopka, the Lady Panthers of Orlando Dr. Phillips was ready to get back on the court and start a new winning streak. It didn’t take them long to start the streak as they easily defeated the Vero Beach Lady Indians 59-34 in the first round of the 6A state playoffs.

Panthers Destroy the Dragons

After losing their opening game to Tampa Bay Tech, the defending 4A state champions, Tampa Plant Panthers came into their Thursday night match-up against Tampa Jefferson looking to make a statement. With a 46-13 beat down of the Dragons, the Panthers sent a statement to the rest of the state that they are ready to defend their championship.

Gainesville Holds on For State Title

The Gainesville Hurricanes boys basketball team had to wait one year to erase memories of last year’s final four performance. The Hurricanes lost in the 5A state semifinal game to eventual state champions Ft. Lauderdale Dillard, then proceeded to lose their coach. The one thing they didn’t lose was their focus as the Hurricanes completed their quest winning the 5A state championship over the Clearwater Tornadoes 53-46.
Panthers Repeat as State Champions

Pine Crest senior forward Ed Waite, predicted a 15 point victory against Orlando Jones in Friday’s 3A state championship final. He said that because of the way his team had prepared all year. Well for once he was wrong. They actually won by 16 as the Ft. Lauderdale Pine Crest Panthers repeated as 3A state champions with a dominating 60-44 victory over the Orlando Jones High Tigers.
